24 dwellings in wood
Social housing 2.0
In January 2024, we were approached by housing association G&O to participate in a tender they wanted to realise in timber construction. Upon request, Hamlet put together a tender team consisting of: Heren5, Slokker Bouwgroep, VE-R and Merosch. And with this great team, we won!
Located in the middle of the stately, Bussum district Het Spiegel, the project consists of two urban villas, with the possibility of 24 or 26 rental flats of 50-80 m2 for social and medium-rent.
Sustainability and a short construction time are key, with the structural basis consisting of CLT walls and floors.
Hamlet designed the wooden shell from inside to outside as a symmetrical mill corner with stability in all directions, in order to realise an efficient wooden residential building. This wooden main supporting structure thus provides a good basis for the striking and all-sided architectural design, which can also be realised within budget.
The progressive construction method, the very high level of sustainability and the architectural quality that fits seamlessly with the history and allure of Het Spiegel, set a new standard for social housing.
The two beautiful residential blocks are also embedded in a park-like landscape designed by VE-R's inspiring team.
